Job Description
Summary:
The Fumigation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all fumigation operations at Vann Family Orchards to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, food safety, employee safety, and operational efficiency. This position manages fumigation scheduling, chemical handling, documentation, vendor coordination, inventory tracking, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to fumigation activities. The Fumigation Supervisor works closely with the Logistics Director, warehouse operations, quality assurance, food safety, and production teams to ensure fumigation activities support customer requirements and operational timelines.Qualifications:

include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Coordinate and oversee daily fumigation activities for almond and agricultural product storage areas, containers, and related facilities. Ensure fumigation processes are completed safely, efficiently, and according to operational schedules. Monitor fumigation timelines, aeration periods, and release procedures. Verify proper setup, sealing, monitoring, and ventilation of fumigation areas. Coordinate fumigation schedules with shipping, receiving, processing, and logistics teams. Regulatory & Safety Compliance- Ensure compliance with all applicable: o Cal/OSHA regulations o California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) requirements o County Agricultural Commissioner requirements o EPA regulations o Label requirements and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Maintain accurate fumigation records, permits, logs, monitoring documentation, and usage reports.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, handling, and inventory control of fumigants and related chemicals.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and corrective actions related to fumigation operations.
- Ensure all required PPE, monitoring devices, and emergency response equipment are available and maintained.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and customer compliance reviews. Leadership & Training
- Supervise fumigation personnel and support safe work practices throughout operations.
- Train employees on: o Safe fumigation procedures o Hazard communication o Respiratory protection o Emergency response procedures o Chemical handling and spill response
- Reinforce company safety policies and hold employees accountable for compliance.
- Assist with incident investigations, corrective actions, and root cause analysis when needed. Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain fumigant inventory levels and coordinate ordering as needed.
- Track chemical usage and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Maintain records related to training, certifications, inspections, and compliance activities.
- Support document control and retention requirements for food safety and regulatory programs. Operational Coordination
- Work closely with warehouse, quality, maintenance, and logistics teams to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
- Communicate operational needs and scheduling updates to leadership.
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts related to safety, efficiency, and compliance.

- Provides direct supervision to fumigation personnel
- Establishes performance expectations, conducts performance evaluations, and provides ongoing coaching and corrective guidance.
- Promotes accountability, productivity, and adherence to company policies, safety standards, and operating procedures.
- Ensures consistent leadership practices and performance standards
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing to learn new processes as needed while being a strong team player in a positive environment.Language Skills:
Ability to understand verbal instructions and written documents such as safety rules, labels, SDS, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to understand, read, and write English to document results on forms and logs.Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all measure units, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Ability:
Must have the ability to apply common understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, or diagram form.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) preferred or ability to obtain.
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain.
- Respiratory protection and hazardous materials training preferred.

None Education and/orExperience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Physical Demands:
