Job Description

Part-Time | In-House Hartman Bros. Inc. (HBI) is seeking a highly skilled Gemologist / Jewelry Inventory Specialist to join our in-house team. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional with strong gemological training, a deep appreciation for fine and antique jewelry, and the discipline required to handle high-value inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately inventory fine and estate jewelry Test and identify precious metals Test, identify, and analyze gemstones Prepare detailed jewelry reports (tri-fold format) Maintain precise documentation and records for high-value items Work closely with internal teams across appraisal, auction, and retail channels
Preferred Qualifications:
GIA Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) or GEM-A graduate (required) NAJA or IGS appraisal credentials strongly preferred Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Comfortable working hands-on with valuable and rare pieces Ability to work independently and maintain strict accuracy standards
Product Exposure :
Fine antique and estate jewelry (Victorian, Art Deco, Retro, etc.) High-end designer jewelry Rare and important colored gemstones, including: Paraíba tourmaline Demantoid garnet Mahenge spinel Emerald, ruby, sapphire, and other notable varieties
