POSITION DESCRIPTION
Performs various duties involving painting , minor repairs walls, equipment, furniture, etc. and maintenance surveillance rounds throughout the hospital
  • Records gauge readings, observes general operating conditions etc.
, of boilers and auxiliary equipment, kitchen equipment, etc. Notes abnormalities in equipment operation, takes corrective action and/or calls for additional assistance as needed.
DEPARTMENT SCOPE OF SERVICE
The Plant Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operational functions including, but not limited to, safety, and fire prevention/protection, hazardous waste disposal, equipment management, loss prevention management, grounds maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and power plant systems (boiler) for the 61-bed hospital; 15 acres of grounds, 12 houses and 1 truck, 1 van and 1 tractor. Responsible for MSDS, hazardous communications, plus two Medical Office Buildings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a wide range of non-technical preventive maintenance and repairs for assigned facility and/or department to include basic plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning services. Performs painting and minor wall repairs. May be required to perform tasks of the other trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter, and/or locksmith. Performs snow removal and other grounds work as needed. Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety. Prepares and maintains logs, records and charts. Provides emergency maintenance as requested. Maintains work area to ensure a clean and safe environment. Adheres to safety requirements as required. Participates and attends departmental meetings and training. Maintains licensure as required. Takes ownership of assignments; other duties as assigned or requested. Communicates and listens effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge. Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to "service". Other duties as assigned. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Education or Equivalency preferred.
Experience:
2 or more years in a maintenance role is required. 1 or more years of healthcare facility experience is preferred.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORTS
Ability to carry 50 pounds. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Requires prolonged standing and walking. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers or symbols accurately. Able to work unsupervised. Ability to work from step/extension ladders to 12 feet. Required to use personal safety equipment. Requires corrected vision to normal range. Requires corrected hearing to normal range.
ENVIORMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Working in tight (small) places. Working inside and outside. May be exposed to hazardous products, communicable disease and/or body fluids. Work around hot equipment. Help move patients when needed. Must be able to handle stressful situations. Working in high places. Working evenings/nights, weekends and holidays. May require working a double shift for coverage. Work in noisy areas. Must be ready at all times to deal with violence (verbal, physical and deadly weapons). Take bodies to morgue.

The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
