General Laborer

• Perform all required inspections of equipment on daily basis and communicate any issues with yard supervisor and maintenance supervisor.
• Take direction from Supervisor to ensure all incoming non-ferrous material is accurately identified and categorized for maximum profit potential, including upgrading when possible.
• Receive incoming material from commercial as well as retail.
• Ensure proper categorization is given on all incoming loads by communicating with the scale as the material is offloaded on any breakdowns needed by them.
• Perform process on material as needed and directed.
• Communicate with scale as to the proper area and operator for loading trucks arriving for outgoing shipments.
• Assist with all outgoing non-ferrous shipments by: § Having material properly organized for effective loading § Loading the truck, railcar or container in a safe and efficient manner. § Confirming all weights of materials loaded. § Ensure material loaded is secured and travel worthy prior to release.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company and all regulatory rules and standards.
• Ensure the integrity of the materials by organizing and processing materials in a safe and organized manner consistent with inventory practices.
• Perform all work in a safe and effective manner
• Perform other duties as directed by management that may not be directly related to primary role as an operator.
• Position is Monday thru Friday from 730 AM to 4

PM Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to:

• Walk/Move on flat surfaces, equipment and rugged outdoor terrain.
• Climb ladders and stairs.
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Sit in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to get to low lying and underneath equipment and machines.
• Use fine motor grasping skills and hand-eye coordination to manipulate controls and may use repetitive motions of the fingers, hand and wrist in doing so.
• Perform tasks that require both close vision and distance vision proficiency.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions
• Wear any and all Personal Protective Equipment which is required to perform the task in a safe and effective manner.
