Job Title:

The General Laborer supports high-speed corrugated manufacturing operations by assisting machine operators, handling materials, maintaining a clean work area, and helping ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Aid and assist machine operators by bringing materials to the equipment and ensuring machines remain adequately supplied. Work with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment while consistently following all safety procedures. Limit scrap waste by monitoring materials, collecting scrap in designated scrap trucks, and delivering it to the proper department when the scrap truck is full. Accurately tag scrap and waste materials for proper waste reporting and tracking. Perform routine housekeeping duties, including sweeping floors, taking out garbage, and completing other minor janitorial tasks to maintain a clean and safe work area. Support high-speed packaging operations, including packaging and labeling products as needed. Assist with basic machine-related tasks such as setup, changeovers, and machine operation support under the direction of machine operators. Inspect materials and products visually to help identify defects or quality issues and report them promptly. Use measuring tools such as measuring tapes and rulers, along with basic shop math, to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy. Lift and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds throughout the day as part of daily production activities. Remain on your feet for most of the shift, moving throughout a large facility to support production needs. Follow all plant safety rules, including the proper use of personal protective equipment at all times. Essential Skills Experience operating or supporting high-speed manufacturing equipment. Ability to work effectively in a high-speed packaging environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail. Ability to accurately read and use a measuring tape and ruler. Proficiency with basic shop math for measurements and simple calculations. Capability to package and label products accurately and efficiently. Comfort with lifting up to 60 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a growing operation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, packaging, or similar production settings. Exposure to machine setup, changeovers, and basic machine operating tasks. Ability to read and interpret basic production instructions or blueprints. Willingness to grow with the operation and take on additional responsibilities over time. Why Work Here? The environment is fast paced and physically active, requiring you to be on your feet. Shift flexibility is a big plus, with current openings on second and third shifts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
