    Construction Carpentry Technician
  • Job Description
  • Join a reputable construction company based in New Haven County as a Construction Carpentry Technician, supporting residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
You will work alongside experienced carpenters on new home builds, commercial buildings, and university refits, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to high-quality construction work. This role offers a strong entry point into the carpentry trade with long-term growth potential.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Assist carpenters with framing and general carpentry tasks on new homes, commercial buildings, and university projects.
+ Perform general construction labor, including materials handling, site preparation, and site maintenance. + Use hand tools and power tools such as hammers, tape measures, levels, chalk lines, sawzalls, and skill saws safely and effectively. + Read and interpret basic measurements on a tape measure down to 1/16th of an inch to support accurate cutting and installation. + Support installation tasks, including temporary guards, handrails, and protection systems as directed. + Maintain tools in good working order, including basic servicing and care of carpentry tools and equipment. + Keep the job site clean and organized, ensuring the site is returned to pre-work level cleanliness at the end of each shift. + Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment at all times. + Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure work progresses efficiently. + Take initiative on site by identifying tasks that need to be done and assisting without waiting for constant direction. + Assist with basic blueprint reading and understanding project layouts as needed. + Support production goals by working efficiently in a physically demanding environment.
  • Essential Skills
  • + Willingness to learn the trade of carpentry and develop skills in a construction environment.
+ Proactive, self-motivated attitude with the ability to take initiative without constant supervision. + Basic knowledge of carpentry, including common tools, machines, and methods used in the trade. + Ability to service and perform basic maintenance on tools as needed. + Basic understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in constructing houses and commercial buildings. + Valid OSHA 10 certification. + Ability to read measurements on a tape measure down to 1/16th of an inch. + Proficiency using tools such as chalk lines, levels, hammers, sawzalls, and skill saws. + Capability to maintain a clean and organized worksite and perform thorough cleanup. + Comfort working in a physically demanding construction environment. + Commitment to following safety procedures and guidelines. + Strong communication and people skills to work effectively with a team.

  • + Desire to deepen carpentry skills and pursue long-term growth in the trade.
+ Ability to take direction well and apply feedback on the job. + General carpentry knowledge to assist in installing temporary guards, handrails, and protection systems. + Experience with framing or working as a framer on construction projects. + Exposure to blueprint reading and basic installation tasks. + Experience in general labor, maintenance, or construction-related roles. + Comfort using a range of hand tools and power tools in a construction setting.

  • You will work primarily on commercial construction sites and residential projects within New Haven County, including new-build houses, commercial buildings, and university facilities.
The role takes place in active construction environments where you will regularly use hand tools and power tools and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying materials, and working on your feet for extended periods. You will follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working both indoors and outdoors, depending on project needs. The work is site-based and hands-on, with a focus on teamwork, safe practices, and maintaining a clean and organized job site.

  • This is a Contract position based out of Middletown, CT.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
