Job Description

    Production Worker
  • Job Description
  • This role involves working in a fast-paced, physically demanding production environment where you will handle, move, and prepare products for storage and shipment while maintaining strict safety and cleanliness standards. You will operate basic equipment, follow good manufacturing practices, and support continuous production by performing a variety of general labor tasks throughout your shift.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Palletize and shrink wrap finished product to prepare it for storage and shipment.
+ Clean and sanitize workstations and surrounding production areas regularly to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. + Move product and materials using a manual pallet jack, ensuring safe handling and proper placement. + Weigh product on a small digital scale, accurately read digital weight measurements, and record data as required. + Move filled bags that can weigh up to 50 pounds, following company policy to use two employees for items over 50 pounds. + Push and pull large bowls on wheels weighing up to 1,000 pounds and move at least eight bowls per shift as part of the production process. + Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, sorting, loading, and cleaning to keep production areas organized and efficient. + Assist with general production and assembly activities, including packaging and packing products according to specifications. + Use hand tools and power tools as needed to support production and basic machine operation tasks. + Support food manufacturing and general production processes by following standard operating procedures and instructions from supervisors. + Operate or assist with forklift operations when needed, following safety guidelines and training. + Stand and work on your feet for 8 to 12 hours per day while maintaining productivity and attention to detail. + Follow good manufacturing practices (GMPs), including all rules related to cleanliness, hygiene, and product safety. + Comply with all safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility rules. + Arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of each shift for temperature screening and preparation, with this time compensated as part of paid hours. + Work overtime on Fridays when required to meet production demands.
  • Essential Skills
  • + Recent experience working in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar general labor environment within the last 5 years.
+ At least 1 year of continuous employment with the same company within the last 5 years, demonstrating reliability and commitment. + Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8 to 12 hours per day, verified through past experience and references. + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, verified through past experience and references. + Willingness and ability to drive and operate a forklift in a production environment. + Comfort working in a physically demanding role that involves pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive movements. + Basic ability to read and record digital weight measurements accurately. + Capability to use manual pallet jacks safely to move product and materials. + Willingness to work either 1st shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday) or 2nd shift (approximately 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday) and to work overtime on Fridays as needed. + Ability to follow safety rules, good manufacturing practices, and detailed instructions consistently. + Preference for candidates with a High School Diploma or GED, though it is not required.

  • + Experience in production, manufacturing, or food production environments.
+ Background in general production, general labor, or assembly work. + Familiarity with packaging, packing, and sorting tasks in a manufacturing setting. + Experience using hand tools and power tools in a safe and controlled manner. + Exposure to machine operation or assisting in machine operation within a production environment. + Comfort working with tape measures and performing basic measurements when needed. + Experience in construction or similar physically intensive roles. + Ability to maintain focus and productivity in warm environments, including rooms that may reach up to 90 degrees in the summer. + High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Safety and adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are central to daily operations, and all team members are expected to follow clearly defined rules and procedures. The facility operates two primary shifts: a 1st shift from about 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and a 2nd shift from about 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime on Fridays as needed. Temperature screening is conducted 15 minutes before each shift, and this time is paid. The production environment can be warm, with some manufacturing rooms reaching up to 90 degrees in the summer, while conditions are comfortable in the winter. The role involves frequent use of manual pallet jacks, small digital scales, hand tools, power tools, and forklifts, as well as pushing wheeled bowls and handling heavy bags. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, hair nets, eye protection, jeans, shirts, bump caps, and lab coats. Employees must follow strict GMP-related appearance and hygiene standards: no smoking or tobacco products at the facility, no perfume or cologne, no fingernail polish, no jewelry or piercings, and clothing must be free of rips, tears, holes, or added embellishments. This environment suits individuals who appreciate structure, safety, teamwork, and hands-on physical work.

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Owatonna, MN.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
