Geotechnical Engineer Location:
Poca, WV or Salem, VA (On-site)Employment Type:
Full-Time About the Role A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join its Engineering team. This role involves managing geotechnical projects end-to-end, including field investigations, analysis, reporting, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. The position reports directly to the Engineering Department Head. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute geotechnical engineering projects from initiation through completion Develop field exploration programs and laboratory testing plans Prepare technical proposals for geotechnical engineering services Coordinate and manage field investigations, including drilling and sampling activities Perform soil and rock logging during subsurface investigations Conduct engineering analysis and prepare detailed geotechnical reports Monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure timely delivery Review foundation and grading plans for compliance with geotechnical recommendations Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, architects, and construction teams Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to project requirements Work standard hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) with additional hours as needed Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's preferred) Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in West Virginia (WV) 8-15 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience Strong understanding of soil mechanics and laboratory testing methods Proficiency in CADD and Microsoft Office tools Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Skills & Attributes Strong project management and organizational abilities Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Positive attitude with strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary package 401(k) with company matching Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off (PTO) Flexible work schedule options Company-provided transportation to job sites Work Environment On-site role based in Poca, WV or Salem, VA Occasional travel to field locations as required Equal Opportunity Statement The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.Similar remote jobs
