GI MALIGNANCY PHYSICIAN-SCIENTIST OPPORTUNITY
Lead. Innovate. Build the Future of GI Oncology. We are partnering with a rapidly expanding academic cancer program embarking on a major expansion of its Hematology-Oncology and GI Malignancies portfolio . This growth is creating rare leadership and program-building opportunities for visionary GI Malignancy specialists who want to shape clinical programs, drive research, and influence the next generation of oncologists. This is not a replacement role—it's a true expansion designed for physicians ready to build, lead, and innovate . The Opportunity The institution is seeking GI Malignancy-focused Medical Oncologists at the Assistant, Associate (open rank) Professor level who are excited by: Program development and growth Clinical research autonomy Translational and investigator-initiated trials Multidisciplinary collaboration Academic advancement with leadership runway These roles are ideal for clinicians who want their work to move the field forward , not just maintain it. What You'll Do Program & Clinical Leadership Help build and expand a GI Malignancy program with institutional backing and resources Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across GI cancers Research & Innovation Develop and lead investigator-initiated and collaborative clinical trials Partner with basic and translational scientists to accelerate discovery Leverage a robust Clinical Trials Office and research infrastructure Education & Mentorship Teach and mentor fellows, residents, and medical/graduate students Contribute to the academic mission through scholarship and leadership Collaboration Work closely with Cancer Center leadership and multidisciplinary teams Influence strategic growth across the cancer enterprise Background Required MD or DO (ABIM board-certified or board-eligible in Medical Oncology) Focused expertise in GI Malignancies Demonstrated or emerging interest in: Clinical trial development Translational research Academic leadership and mentorship Experience within an academic or research-oriented environment preferred Why This Role Stands Out Significant program expansion with institutional investment Autonomy to shape your clinical and research focus Leadership and promotion runway Collegial, collaborative academic culture State-of-the-art facilities and diverse patient population Competitive compensation and resources aligned with academic impact These are career-defining roles , offering the chance to leave a lasting imprint on patient care, research, and education.
