Job Description
An instructor in the Department of General Education and Assessment Department must be prepared to teach a full range of lower-division general education courses to include
GNED 101
(Introduction to General Education) and/or Wellness courses. In addition to teaching these courses, a CSI general education instructor will support dual credit faculty throughout the state of Idaho by providing them assistance with CSI administrative processes, outcomes assessment processes, curriculum development and pedagogy support, and professional development when appropriate.Location:
Teaching both online and face-to-face in Twin Falls with the possibility of travel to CSI outreach centers in Jerome and Burley.Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach a full semester credit load of courses (15-16 credits) in accordance with the descriptions published in the CSI catalog, or as defined by the Department Chair. Teach classes in various modalities including, hybrid, online, and traditional face-to-face formats, utilizing technology such as Zoom for synchronous sessions. Maintain course content in the Learning Management System (Canvas) Develop an annual plan for personal development (IDP/Faculty Evaluation) Participate in faculty development goals to improve professional effectiveness including instructional evaluation process, Learning Lab teaching workshops, and other professional development opportunities to include a three-year onboarding process. Commit to institutional instructional goals surrounding high impact practices and intentional pedagogy. Coordinate with others who are teaching within the program to ensure program-level objectives are being met. Collaborate annually with those in the department to complete program review. Implement course-level and program-level outcomes assessment strategies. Participate in activities or organizations to promote professional development including those available on campus or through discipline-specific training. Participate in campus committees, faculty senate, and department meetings and activities. Complete all administrative duties including, but not limited to, entering attendance, drop for no show, summary of student evaluations at the end of each semester, uploading syllabi to the central repository, etc., and following campus-wide or department-level policies and procedures. Participate in all graduation exercises. Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in the subject area, or a closely related field. Applicants who claim equivalent qualifications shall provide conclusive evidence that they possess qualifications that are at least equivalent to those required by the minimum qualifications of the area for which they are applying. It is the responsibility of the applicant to supply all evidence and documentation for the claim of equivalency at the time of application.Desired Skills and Abilities:
Experience with wellness curriculum or first year experience curriculum. Experience with a variety of teaching strategies including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, distance learning, and teaching with technology. Experience with outcomes assessment. Communicate effectively in oral and written English.Additional Information:
