This position represents Columbus State University to the student body in regards to Student Activities Council (SAC). Graduate Assistants will be responsible for aiding the advisor with planning and implementing all aspects of programming. Objectives Plan, develop, and execute events to meet the current needs and interests of students. Provide opportunities for learning and engagement in the event programming process. Provide information, resources, leadership to students. Assist students in establishing healthy connections between administrators, community members, and event programming companies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Activities Council. Assist in planning, scheduling, and implementing the SAC executive board recruitment and training process. Oversee weekly individual meetings with Executive Board in conjunction with Advisor. Assist and manage campus logistics, vender and attraction research, contractual agreements under the supervision of the Advisor. Attend weekly SAC Executive Board Meetings and organization meetings. Promote development by implementing creative social, educational, and cultural student programs and activities. Assist with coordination, preparation and distribution of advertising and promotional materials. Maintain websites, social media platforms and CSUinvolve portal. Serve as a resource and advisor for students and volunteers. Implement assessment and evaluation processes for events; maintain all calendars and records for event and budget purposes. Remain current on University programs and policies as it relates to student organizations & programming. Participate and contribute to other office and campus initiatives including ROAR Orientation, Cougar Kickoff, Homecoming, etc. Other duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the Student Connection and Engagement Coordinator. The position receives oral and written advice and/or instructions from the advisor. The position has indirect supervision received from Student Life and Development Staff.
Position Requirements:
Enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Columbus State University. Well organized and able to multi-task as needed. Bachelor's Degree. Valid driver's license. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related programs. Possess organizational skills, abilities to multi-task and follow through on assigned responsibilities. Model appropriate behavior for student leaders and the campus community.
Preferred Requirements:
Seeking a Masters or PhD in Higher Education or a related field. Experience in planning events, leadership training and advising undergraduate students. The salary is commensurate with education and experience. This position requires 19 contact hours per week with some evenings and weekends required. The position is a ten-month academic year appointment, with summer appointment contingent upon funding.
