Richards Hall, 228 Human Resources Purpose or Role of the Position. HR Student Assistants will provide general support and participate in a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting and onboarding processes, reporting, and general data entry. Works within the HRM and digital filing systems, OneUSG Connect and OnBase, to enter in new data and help maintain existing candidate and employee Assists with the creation of campus communications and marketing collateral (i.e. brochures, newsletters) as requested. Answers front line phones and provides first-rate customer service to the campus community. Provides support for virtual and in-person programs (i.e. annual open enrollment, weekly Q&A calls, etc.). Participates and contributes thoughts and ideas during departmental meetings. Special projects as assigned by members of the HR and Payroll team. To be considered for a Student Assistant position, the applicant must be a current Columbus State University undergraduate student, taking at least six (6) credit hour courses per semester. Federal Work-Study (FWS) positions are grouped into three general levels based on job duties and required skills:Entry-Level:
Basic tasks with little to no prior experience required. Duties may include clerical work, customer service, or general office support.Intermediate:
Positions that require some prior experience or specific skills. Duties may include tutoring, lab assistance, or more independent administrative work.Advanced:
Roles that require specialized skills, training, or significant responsibility. Duties may include research assistance, technical support, or leadership roles. Procedure forDetermining Pay Rate:
Federal Work-Study (FWS) pay rates are based on the type of job, responsibilities, and skills required. Pay is set within the university's student wage guidelines and follows federal and state minimum wage laws. Rates may vary by position and are determined in coordination with Financial Aid, based on available funding and the student's FWS award. Evaluation Procedures and Schedules The student assistant's schedule is flexible and based on their availability.
