Position Summary The Graduate Assistant for Basic Needs Assistance will play a key role in the Office of CARE & Case Management (CCM), supporting students with services, resources and initiatives surrounding basic needs. Reporting to the Director of CARE & Case Management, the Graduate Assistant will have the primary responsibility of managing the daily operations of theFalcon Bazaar:
Food & Necessities Pantry, along with the Professional Clothing Closet. The Graduate Assistant may also manage a caseload of students presenting primarily with basic need concerns, support programming initiatives, and coordinate other basic need resources and initiatives. Specific Duties 1. Manage the daily operations of theFalcon Bazaar:
Food and Necessities Pantry and Professional Clothing Closet, which includes the supervision, scheduling and training of student staff members, inventory management, and requesting purchase orders through CCM staff. 2. Serve as a manager or high-level administrator for PantrySoft, the primary inventory management software, and online ordering system, for the Falcon Bazaar and Professional Clothing Closet. 3. Provide non-clinical support for a caseload of students who present primarily with basic need concerns, and assist them in connecting with relevant campus and community resources, and navigating and applying for public assistance programs (e.g., SNAP, WIC, etc.). 4. Maintain privacy and discretion with sensitive student information, sharing risk-related concerns with supervisor, referring students to CARE, documenting case-related information in Maxient, and navigating relationships with empathy, a focus on fostering self-advocacy, and the holistic development of the student. 5. Support the mission and work of the CARE Team, by delivering interventions recommended by the team, and engaging in team discussions and risk assessment when indicated. 6. Design and implement programming initiatives that foster skills, build resources and raise awareness around basic need concerns, and resources that exist on and off campus. 7. Coordinate resources and support for students who are referred to CARE & Case Management for Emergency Funding assistance. 8. Coordinate pick-up and delivery for inventory, which may require driving. 9. Support the Office of CARE & Case Management with walk-in appointments, phone-calls, responding to emails and covering the office as needed and appropriate. 10. Collaborate, build partnerships and support cross-campus initiatives that foster student support, student success, or expand upon existing resources that students may benefit from. 11. Other duties and projects as assigned that support the Director, CARE & Case Management Team, or the broader Student Support / Student Affairs Division.Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Must possess a Bachelor's degree and be enrolled as a graduate student at Fitchburg State University. 2. Must be enrolled in more than 6 credit hours each semester. 3. Good written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service orientation; ability to navigate sensitive personal information and emotionally-heightened situations with composure. 4. The successful candidate will be a mature, responsible, independent thinker, who demonstrates flexibility and good problem solving skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience, or enrolled in programs, related to human services, counseling, education or business management. 2. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working with college age students. 3. Preference will be given to candidates with previous programming experience. 4. Preference will be given to candidates with a valid driver's license.Additional Information:

Stipend:
