Job Description:
Position Summary The Graduate Assistant for Case Management will play a key role in the Office of CARE & Case Management (CCM), providing non-clinical support and resources to a caseload of students presenting with acute and/or situational stressors. Reporting to the Director of CARE & Case Management, the Graduate Assistant will deliver interventions recommended by the Community Assistance and Risk Evaluation (CARE) Team, and design, support and implement programming initiatives that build student skills and raise awareness of resources. Specific Duties 1. Manages a caseload and provides non-clinical support for students experiencing acute and/or situational stressors related to academic, behavioral, medical / mental health, and personal challenges. 2. Schedules appointments with students referred to the CARE Team or Case Management. Conducts intake appointments to assess risk and holistic needs, develops action plans and coordinates referrals to resources (on and off campus). 3. Responds to and supports students in crisis or distress, by assessing needs, administering non-clinical assessments, and providing support, in consultation with their supervisor. 4. Maintain privacy and discretion with sensitive student information, sharing risk-related concerns with supervisor, referring students to CARE, documenting case-related information in Maxient, and navigating relationships with empathy, a focus on fostering self-advocacy, and the holistic development of the student. 5. Assist students with pursuing, or returning from, a Leave of Absence, as well as submitting absence notifications for students needing a short-term absence from class. 6. Research, design and oversee a student-led mentorship program, initiative or organization that supports the mission of CARE & Case Management, and student advocacy, wellness and support more broadly. 7. Designs, implements and supports student-centered programming that builds self-advocacy and wellness skills, in addition to training programs that raise awareness of CARE & Case Management resources. 8. Collaborate, build partnerships and support cross-campus initiatives that foster student support, student success, or expand upon existing resources that students may benefit from. 9. Support the mission and work of the CARE Team, by delivering interventions recommended by the team, and engaging in team discussions and risk assessment when indicated. 10. Support the Office of CARE & Case Management with walk-in appointments, phone-calls, responding to emails and covering the office as needed and appropriate. 11. Other duties and projects as assigned that support the Director, CARE & Case Management Team, or the broader Student Support / Student Affairs Division.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Must possess a Bachelor's degree and be enrolled as a graduate student at Fitchburg State University. 2. Must be enrolled in more than 6 credit hours each semester. 3. Good written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service orientation; ability to navigate sensitive personal information and emotionally-heightened situations with composure. 4. The successful candidate will be a mature, responsible, independent thinker, who demonstrates flexibility and good problem solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience, or enrolled in programs, related to human services, counseling, or education 2. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working with college age students. 3. Preference will be given to candidates with previous programming experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 1.
Stipend:
Not to exceed $12,000.00 for 40 weeks of paraprofessional work, to be paid bi-weekly 2. Waiver for 12 class credits an academic year, tuition and fees, each fiscal year (7/1-6/30)
