Job Description

Job Summary Following established policies and procedures, renders safe, professional nursing care which includes delivering care for neonatal, pediatric and/or adolescent patients with a wide variety of medical conditions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsible for coordinating, delegating and monitoring tasks assigned to other members of the care team in accordance with professional nursing standards. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the policies and mission of Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital. Protects patients, visitors and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.

This is for those graduating nursing school in December 2025. Start date is January 2026. Full time schedule is 3, 12-hour shifts from 7am-7:30pm and every third weekend
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessment:
Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessment according to policy and procedure. Demonstrates skills of a Graduate Nurse and able to recognize differences between normal vs abnormal physiological and emotional behavior and to effectively communicate any deviations to the medical staff. Continually alert to changes in patient's condition, attention to details, uses initiative and sound judgment, interacts with tact and kindness toward patients and visitors and applies nursing principles and technique. Performs duties with a high degree of accuracy when recognizing symptoms, following orders and initiating and documenting nursing care measures.
Communication:
Uses clear, and concise documentation of information in the medical record. Provides clear and concise report with pertinent history for a smooth transition of care from shift to shift and discipline to discipline. Maintains strict confidentially regarding patients and other confidential information at all times. Provides the patient and family information regarding care, condition changes. Consistently creates and contributes to a positive work environment through attitude, ability to work with oth-ers and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Communications with assigned Registered Nurse preceptor throughout each shift.
Planning :
Plans and organizes workload, setting priorities for optimal patient care. Collaborates with the medical team to review and evaluate the plan of care on an ongoing basis. Teaches patient, family or caregivers how to successfully meet patient's health care needs, realizing any cultural diversities or educational barriers. May participate in multidisciplinary patient care conferences.
Professionalism :
Functions within guidelines set forth by the State Nursing Practice Act, nursing department and hospital. Rep-resents nursing at Ranken Jordan in a professional manner through communication and appearance.
Safety :
Strives to deliver patient care in the safest manner possible. Follows Ranken Jordan Policy regarding hand hygiene. Ad-ministers patient medications correctly following medical staff orders.
Education :
Collaborates with Nursing Education, attends in service educational opportunities as required. All other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse and/or Nursing Leadership.
Qualifications:
The Graduate Nurse (GN) must have graduated from an accredited nursing program and must pass the NCLEX exam and obtain Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN licensure. NCLEX exam must be attempted within 90 days of the Nursing Program graduation date. If GN is unsuccessful at passing the NCLEX exam they may no longer work in the Graduate Nurse role. Alternate employment as a CNA or Student Nurse Intern (SNI) may be considered based on departmental needs. An employee may have a maximum total of 3 NCLEX attempts within the first 6 months of onboarding in the GN role. The Graduate Nurse must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Current PALS certification or completion within 12 months for those individuals with 0.5 FTE or greater position.
