5 Scope of Job Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, this community-engaged research project records the oral histories of structural and social determinants of health affecting migrant farmworker mothers in the Rio Grande Valley. The study focuses on recording the oral histories from individuals on the subject of maternal health access, mental well-being, food insecurity, occupational hazards, and resilience factors among women who migrate seasonally for agricultural work. Using feminist oral history methodology, the project aims to generate digital archives to advance health equity for this underserved population in South Texas. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Key Responsibilities Conduct oral history collection with migrant farmworker mothers in the RGV (in English/Spanish) at community sites. Assist with oral history archive management with community partners. Develop community-facing materials to translate RWJF-funded findings for local stakeholders, Promotoras, and migrant advocacy organizations. Support logistical program coordination for oral history events and follow-up with farmworker populations across Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy counties as necessary. Contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant reports including literature reviews and drafting sections on health equity and RGV-specific maternal health barriers.
