POSITION DESCRIPTION GRANTS MANAGER SALARY
: $62,000 - $67,500
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Children's Beach House (CBH) is a private, non-profit organization organized under section 501(c) (3) of the internal Revenue Code as a public charity. CBH was founded in 1936 by Lydia Chichester DuPont with the mission of improving the lives of children, youth, families, and communities by helping them to identify, understand, and utilize their own strengths, talents, and resources.
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Philanthropy, the Grants Manager leads the development, coordination, and execution of a strategic grants program that supports the mission and long-term sustainability of Children's Beach House. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities for program operations, strategic initiatives, capital projects, and endowment growth. Working collaboratively across departments, the Grants Manager develops compelling proposals and ensures timely, accurate reporting and compliance for all awarded grants. The position plays a key role in advancing organizational priorities through strong relationship management, strategic communication, and data-informed fundraising practices. The Grants Manager serves as an ambassador for Children's Beach House and helps strengthen the organization's visibility, community partnerships, and philanthropic impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Strategy & Fund Development Develop and implement an annual grants strategy aligned with organizational priorities and strategic goals Research, identify, and evaluate prospective funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies Maintain and manage a comprehensive grants calendar, including deadlines, submissions, reporting requirements, and stewardship activities Collaborate with leadership and program staff to align funding requests with organizational needs, budgets, and program outcomes Monitor trends in philanthropy, government funding, and nonprofit best practices to identify emerging opportunities Proposal Development & Reporting Write, prepare, and submit compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation Coordinate cross-departmental input to ensure proposals accurately reflect program goals, impact data, and financial information Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, guidelines, and deadlines Manage post-award reporting, including impact reports, financial reports, and grant renewals Maintain accurate records within donor and grants management systems Relationship Management & Stewardship Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with foundation representatives, government agencies, corporate partners, and community stakeholders Support engagement and stewardship efforts for current and prospective funders Collaborate with Advancement staff to ensure funders are appropriately recognized and included in organizational communications and events Represent Children's Beach House at meetings, community events, and networking opportunities as appropriate Government & Institutional Funding Research and pursue local, state, and federal grant opportunities relevant to Children's Beach House programs and initiatives Monitor applicable government funding portals and agency announcements Assist with navigating government application systems and compliance requirements Coordinate with organizational leadership and partners to strengthen public funding relationships and advocacy efforts Collaboration & Organizational Support Partner with program, finance, and communications staff to gather stories, outcomes, and data that demonstrate impact Participate in Advancement team planning, campaign support, and organizational initiatives Prepare regular reports and updates on grant activity, pipeline progress, and funding outcomes for leadership and the Board of Trustees
QUALIFICATIONS
The Grants Manager must possess a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing, institutional fundraising, or nonprofit development. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of successfully securing foundation, corporate, and/or government grants, as well as experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
Bachelor's degree in communications, English, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field Experience with government grants and compliance reporting Knowledge of Delaware philanthropic and nonprofit landscape Experience with strategic fundraising planning and donor stewardship High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality Experience with donor databases, grants management systems (Raiser's Edge, Instrumentl, etc.) and Microsoft Office including excel and Word. Must be proficient operating in a Mac environment Master's degree or relevant professional certification a plus
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess exceptional written, editing, and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational and project management abilities and a keen attention to detail. The candidate must be able to interpret programmatic and financial information and translate it into compelling funding proposals. Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
