Job Title:
Grinder / Shop Laborer Job Description This role focuses on grinding forged metals and alloys, supporting metal fabrication and forging operations, and performing general shop labor in a manufacturing environment. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and machines to ensure parts meet precise specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities Grind forged metals and alloys to specified dimensions and finishes using appropriate grinding equipment. Measure materials accurately using measuring tape, micrometers, and calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances. Support metal fabrication activities, including preparing, handling, and finishing metal components. Assist with forging operations by handling materials, setting up workpieces, and supporting production processes. Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery safely and efficiently as part of daily production work. Perform general labor tasks in the shop, such as moving materials, cleaning work areas, and organizing tools and equipment. Follow production instructions and work orders to complete tasks on time and to required quality standards. Inspect finished parts visually and with measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support continuous workflow and address production issues as they arise. Essential Skills Experience grinding forged metals and alloys in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to measure materials accurately using measuring tape, micrometers, and calipers. Hands-on experience with metal fabrication processes. Basic knowledge of forging processes and working with forged components. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Experience with machine operation in a manufacturing or production setting. Ability to perform general labor tasks in a shop or manufacturing environment. Attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Commitment to working safely and following established safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a forging environment preferred. Background in metal forming or forging production is an advantage. Familiarity with manufacturing workflows and production schedules. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. You will work on the first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., operating grinding equipment, hand and power tools, and production machinery around forged metals and alloys. The setting is industrial and shop-based, with active production lines and material handling. Safety procedures are emphasized, and you can expect a practical, hands-on atmosphere where you spend most of the day on your feet working with tools, machines, and metal components. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irwindale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
