  • Full-time About Alpine Hardwood Alpine Hardwood is a Minnesota hardwood flooring contractor specializing in custom installation, sanding, and finishing for residential and light commercial projects.
We build floors homeowners are proud of, using quality materials and craftsmanship that holds up for decades. Our crew takes pride in clean job sites, sharp lines, and finishes that look right the first time. Most of our work is in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities. The Role We are hiring a Hardwood Flooring Installer / Finisher to join our crew. You will work alongside experienced installers on the full scope of hardwood work: prepping substrates, installing solid and engineered hardwood, sanding, staining, and applying finish. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in the work and wants to see a project through from material drop-off to final coat. You do not need prior flooring experience. If you have solid carpentry skills, a sharp eye, and you show up ready to work, we will teach you the rest. Training and Growth We run a structured training program that takes carpenters and turns them into hardwood specialists. You will learn install, sand, and finish work the right way, on real jobs, alongside people who have been doing this for years. You are in control of your wage and your growth. As you pick up new skills and take on more responsibility, your pay goes up with it. There is no waiting around for a yearly review. If you are getting better and producing better work, you are getting paid more. The path to lead installer is open to anyone willing to put in the reps. What You'll Do Install nail-down, glue-down, and floating hardwood floors (solid and engineered) Prep subfloors, including moisture testing, flattening, and underlayment Operate drum sanders, edgers, and buffers to produce flat, scratch-free floors Apply stains, sealers, and topcoats (oil-modified, water-based, hardwax oil) Perform board replacements, weave-ins, and pattern work (herringbone, borders, inlays) as you progress Keep a clean, organized job site and protect surrounding finishes, trim, and walls Communicate clearly with the lead, the homeowner, and other trades on site Maintain tools and equipment in working order What We Offer Pay based on experience, with raises tied directly to your skill growth Structured training program, learn install, sand, and finish on real jobs Steady year-round work (we run a full schedule through Minnesota winters) Earned Sick and Safe Time accrues from day one, per Minnesota law Tool allowance, with company-provided large equipment (sanders, vacuums, saws) A small, tight crew where good work gets noticed A clear path to lead installer for the right person What We're Looking For Carpentry experience (framing, finish carpentry, remodeling, cabinetry, trim, or related trades) Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and reading a tape measure accurately A steady eye for detail: tight joints, straight rows, clean cut lines Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license Ability to lift 75+ lbs, work on your knees, and handle a full physical workday Show up on time, every day, with a good attitude and a willingness to learn Nice to Have Prior hardwood install, sand, or finish experience NWFA training or certifications Stair work, treads, and risers
