Primary Job Function:
The Reynoldsburg City Schools' Head Marching Band Director is responsible for the artistic vision, instructional leadership, and administrative management of the marching band program. This role facilitates student growth through rehearsals and performances outside of the standard school day, ensuring a high-quality extracurricular experience that fosters musicality, leadership, and community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid State of Ohio Pupil Activity Permit (PAP) (must maintain current CPR, First Aid, Concussion, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest certifications). Satisfactory results of state and federal (BCI/FBI) background checks. High School Diploma or equivalent (

Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Ohio Teaching License in Music (K-12). Previous experience managing a comprehensive marching band program. Strong background in show design and OMEA adjudication standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership & Artistic Vision Repertoire Selection:
Choose performance pieces and design shows that challenge students musically and visually while meeting the criteria for successful competition and community engagement.
Performance Preparation:
Prepare students for a high-level experience at Varsity Football games, 3-6 Adjudicated Events, and the Annual Appreciation Concert through rigorous rehearsal schedules.
Instructional Oversight:
Direct Summer Camps and Summer Rehearsals, including a mandatory 5-night resident camp away from campus to build ensemble technique and culture.
Operational & Financial Management Facility Coordination:
Manage the booking of all necessary facilities for rehearsals, camps, and indoor performances.
Financial Accountability:
Ensure that all Pay to Participate student fees are collected and documented. Coordinate the "Band-Aid Day" fundraiser and other financial initiatives to support program needs.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Attend regular Booster Meetings to collaborate with parent organizations and provide updates on program logistics and needs.
Program Administration & Community Presence Community Engagement:
Lead the ensemble in high-profile community events, including the Reynoldsburg 4th of July Parade, Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival, and Livingston House Concert Series.
Student Supervision:
Assume primary responsibility for student safety, behavior, and welfare during all rehearsals, performance nights, and off-campus trips.
Policy Compliance:
Ensure all program activities adhere to district policies and Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) or OMEA regulations as applicable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of:
Advanced music pedagogy and marching techniques; OMEA adjudication rubrics; Ohio school safety and liability laws; student fee collection protocols.
Skilled in:
Large ensemble conducting; organizational management; conflict resolution; budget oversight.
Ability to:
Commit to an extensive schedule involving evenings, weekends, and overnight travel; lead a team of supplemental staff and volunteers; effectively represent the district in public performance settings.
