Job Description
Build Quality. Lead Standards. Drive Excellence. Two State Construction is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head of Quality Control to lead all quality assurance and quality control operations within our structural steel fabrication division. Founded in 1970, Two State Construction has built a reputation for delivering high-quality structural steel fabrication and construction services throughout the country. This leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality systems that ensure all fabricated products meet customer specifications, AWS standards, AISC requirements, and internal quality expectations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and hands-on experience within a structural steel fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all Quality Control and Quality Assurance operations for the fabrication division Develop, maintain, and improve company quality systems and procedures Ensure compliance with: AWS welding standards AISC certification requirements Customer specifications and project requirements Applicable codes and industry regulations Review fabrication drawings, welding procedures, inspection reports, and quality documentation Oversee weld inspections, dimensional inspections, material traceability, and final product verification Manage corrective actions and root-cause analysis for quality issues Maintain calibration records and inspection equipment Train and mentor QC inspectors, welders, and shop personnel on quality standards and procedures Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout fabrication operations Participate in internal and external audits Work closely with operations, estimating, project management, and production teams to maintain quality and efficiency Preferred Qualifications & Certifications Strongly Preferred Certifications Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - AWS AISC Quality Certification experience NDT Level II Certification (a plus) Experience with
ISO 9001
quality management systems and certification processes strongly preferred Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain ISO-compliant quality procedures and documentation Experience Requirements 5+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication quality control 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory QC role Strong understanding of: Structural steel fabrication processes Welding procedures and inspection Blueprint and shop drawing interpretation Fit-up and dimensional tolerances Bolting and structural connection requirements Experience managing quality documentation and inspection records Familiarity with ISO-style quality systems is a plus Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and communication skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational ability Ability to identify problems and implement corrective actions Comfortable working both in the office and fabrication shop environment Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital quality documentation systems Ability to communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, and internal teams Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and certifications Performance-based bonus opportunities Health insurance Paid vacation and holidays Retirement plan opportunities Long-term career growth with an established company Why Join Two State Construction?
