Summary Polk County High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our varsity men's basketball program. The Head Coach will be responsible for fostering a positive and competitive environment, developing student-athletes both on and off the court, and promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. This position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to academic excellence, and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching plan for the varsity men's basketball team, including practice schedules, game strategies, and player development programs. Conduct daily practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game preparation. Organize and oversee all aspects of the varsity basketball program, including scheduling games and tournaments, managing budgets, and coordinating travel arrangements. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration to ensure a supportive environment for student-athletes. Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement. Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall athletic program at Polk County High School. Attend and participate in relevant coaching clinics, workshops, and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in coaching and athlete development. Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations. Act as a role model for student-athletes, demonstrating a commitment to personal integrity, leadership, and community involvement.
