1. Must hold an LPN License. 2. Accurate record keeping required. 3. Medical knowledge, experience, and training. 4. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 5. Ability to maintain an orderly environment. 6. Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly. 7. Strong interpersonal communications skills. 8. Typing and knowledge of Microsoft and Google Workspace including word processing, spreadsheets, and data collection. 9. Nursing software experience preferred. 10. Effective communication skills. 11. Maintain CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) with AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification and maintain first aid skill.REPORTS TO
Building Principal(s) and School NurseJOB GOAL
To provide medication administration, first aid and treatment of illness for students, and varied duties as assigned by the building principal and/or school nurse.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide first aid service to students. Support the value of a healthy and safe school environment. Ability to triage student needs in the school clinic setting. Complete health screenings for students as prescribed by the Ohio Department of Health which include, but are not limited to scheduling, screening, and recording student results, and completing necessary referrals. Assist with hearing, vision, dental, growth, head lice and other screenings as needed. Assist with obtaining and maintaining immunization, screening, and health records of students for the local and state health department as needed. Screen student records for proper immunizations, alert parents of needed immunizations, and maintain communication until records of immunizations are provided. Monitor health records and send out notices for missing documentation or needed information (i.e., physicals). Prepare and maintain required/requested records, reports and other documents. Ability to work with a variety of student medical needs. Administer medication and tube feedings, provide diabetes care and perform other nursing procedures as instructed by school nurse according to school policy. Maintain a record of all students treated in the clinic. Confer with the school nurse to check, refer and report if necessary, all communicable diseases. Assist in keeping an inventory and maintenance of clinic supplies. Communicate with staff and students' parents/guardians regarding illness or injury as needed. Maintain frequent communication with school nurse regarding the performance of assigned duties and to request instruction regarding nursing procedures and medical conditions as needed. Conduct other clinic duties as assigned by the principal and/or school nurse. Assists with filing pertinent nurse's records to include Preschool. Keep current health records for students, new students and maintain a database for health records. Prepare and acquire updated materials on communicable diseases for teachers, parents, and students. Assist with kindergarten registration. Assist the other buildings in the absence of the school nurse and/or health aide. Maintain good attendance. Maintain confidentiality with student(s) and their health record(s). Adhere to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) mandated laws.NOTE:
The health aide shall be inoculated against blood-borne pathogens and practice safe procedures including gloves, masks, and other protective clothing as may be appropriate. The health aide acknowledges upon acceptance of employment that there are certain potentially harmful risks associated with and inherent in the position and will take proper safety precautions.Position Type:
