Health Physicist at Department Of Energy in Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary These positions are to be filled under the OPM Government-Wide Direct Hire Authority for STEM Positions for grades
GS 12-15.
This serves as a public notice for the use of the Direct Hire Authority in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3327 and 3330 and 5 CFR 330. Veterans shape the future of energy As a Health Physicist, you will: Participate in the implementation of Laws and DOE directives for incident investigations related to assigned programs that could have environmental, safety, or health consequences. Serve as a radiological controls subject matter expert on providing expert technical advice and assistance on radiological control to DOE entities including the offices of Nuclear Energy, Environmental Management, Environment, Health, Safety, and other Program Secretarial Offices. Conduct administrative and technical reviews on developing project plans and programs, ensuring compliance with DOE requirements, budgets, and quality standards related to assigned projects and programs. Serve as a point of contact for radiological control matters on radiation protection working groups and fulfilling related responsibilities. Provide professional advice and assistance on activities involving radioactive materials or exposure to radiation to ensure safety and prevent adverse environmental, safety, or health impacts. Evaluate applicability of and assesses contractor compliance with developing project plans and programs, ensuring compliance with DOE requirements, budgets, and quality standards.
