! We are currently seeking to fill the following position:

Health, Safety and Training Coordinator Location:
Thomaston and supporting Naugatuck location
Shift:
1st - normally 8 am to 4:30 pm Salary Exempt position - salary dependent upon experience
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to support the company's health, safety and training initiatives along with ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Evaluating, monitoring, investigating and recording profile requirements as required by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and OSHA which include: accurate record keeping; data collection; analytical comparative analysis and correlation of information. Ensures reports are issued in a timely manner to management. Provides initial and ongoing training to employees.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Regular attendance in accordance with Attendance Policy
  • Attend and complete all mandatory trainings by necessary completion date
  • Perform all job functions in compliance with Code of Conduct Policy
  • Demonstrates all Company Core Values
  • Lead monthly Safety Meetings (meeting invites, meeting minutes, etc)
  • Encourage employee participation in Safety meeting
  • Accident & Injury Reporting, Investigation and Tracking - (OSHA and non-OSHA)
  • Follow up with injured employees and with Occupational Health provider (medicals, return to work status, etc)
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on injured employees out of work (FMLA, ADA, etc)
  • Collaborate with production related to light duty accommodation requests
  • Participate in bi-annual workman compensation claims reviews
  • Maintain supplies at first aid kit locations, order supplies as necessary
  • Provide employee training for both new hire orientation and annual subjects
  • Identify safety concerns and offer recommendations for solutions
  • Initiate forward thinking programs to drive down incident rates and increase safety awareness
  • Follow up on any safety walk through, mock OSHA audit, and OSHA audit findings to remediate issues in a timely manner if not immediately
  • Lead any and all Industrial Hygiene programs and all recordkeeping associated with those programs.
  • Liaison with hearing truck, prescription safety glasses, safety shoes programs as well as other PPE suppliers.
  • Coordinate fire drills at both facilities annually.
  • Scheduling and monitoring all types of waste shipments
  • Maintain the 3yr D.O.T. training Loading or transporting hazardous waste
  • Maintain RCRA Training
  • Identifying and characterizing RCRA wastes which also includes waste profiles
  • Assisting with routine compliance issues
  • Investigation events, near misses and accidents timely so accurate reporting internally and externally.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Education :
Bachelor degree in Safety studies or related field Preferred 2 M inimum Years of Experience in a similar role is Preferred Demonstrate skills in :
  • Understanding OSHA regulations
  • Editing and creating compliance programs
  • Performing regulatory training with groups of employees
  • Microsoft Office Driving Required YES Company Vehicle NO Employee's Own Vehicle YES Driving to other company locations Medical - Employment physical, HPE, Audiogram, drug testing required - Upon Hire
ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability :
Tasks involve sedentary to light work, involving some reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling of objects and materials in addition to sitting for prolonged periods of time. Tasks involve bending and kneeling occasionally. Tasks involve ability to push, pull and lift up to 30 lbs occasionally with or without the assistance of a hoist is required. Tasks involve ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally
Sensory Requirements :
Tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Tasks require audio perception and discrimination. Tasks may require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors :
Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents and/or toxic/poisonous agents.
