Position Summary :
A Health Services Manager will assist in administration and provision of health services for Head Start children and families throughout our five-county service area.
Job duties and details:
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with the medical and dental communities for provision of services to Head Start children.
  • Develops policies and procedures for the provision of health services.
  • Plans, conducts and/or arranges training and technical assistance for staff in health education, first aid, safety practices and emergency procedures.
  • Monitoring the preparation and maintenance of health records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinates efforts to link staff and families with appropriate community resources.
  • Coordinates approval and disbursement of Head Start medical and dental funds.
  • Organizes the agency's Health Service Advisory Committee and supports its functions.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and their staff by periodically completing the CLASS observation tool as well as assigned monitoring functions on the agency data tracking system (COPA).
  • Promotes active parent involvement in all aspects of the Head Start program.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Health Education, Public Health, Nursing, Early Childhood Education, or closely related field is required.
  • Knowledge of health, or early childhood, education principles and practices and local community health resources.
  • Ability to travel to classrooms in a five-county area and monitor teaching staff to assure the effective implementation of early childhood principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to: professional appearance, communication orally and in written form, listening, time management, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Valid driver's license and some travel required.
  • Hire subject to Head Start policies on background check and drug screening.
