Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as an Anesthesia Technician, Registry in our Anesthesiology department at the Hyde Park campus. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You must be based in the greater Chicagoland area. The Anesthesia Technician supports anesthesia providers and operating room team members by preparing, operating, troubleshooting, cleaning, and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies. This position supports surgical and procedural areas throughout the medical center, including the operating rooms, trauma suites, pediatric and obstetric areas, radiology, PACU, ICU, Cath Lab, MRI, emergency department, and other procedural locations. Essential Job Functions Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots anesthesia machines, monitors, and ancillary devices. Prepares anesthesia equipment and supplies before and during surgical and procedural cases. Assists anesthesia providers with patient transport, positioning, invasive-line preparation, medication retrieval, and routine or difficult intubations and extubations. Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes, and stores reusable anesthesia equipment and supplies according to established procedures. Restocks operating rooms, anesthesia work areas, and support spaces. Assists with the ordering, receipt, organization, and distribution of anesthesia equipment and supplies. Supports anesthesia services throughout the Hyde Park campus, including the main operating rooms, DCAM, Comer Children's Hospital, and Labor and Delivery. Maintains equipment and promptly reports malfunctioning or damaged equipment. May perform Point-of-Care Testing as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least two years of experience as an anesthesia technician or relevant operating room experience. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification upon hire or within the first month of employment. Preferred Qualifications Successful completion of the certification examination requirements established by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians.
