An Art Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving art, crafts, and similar activities. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

KVC Missouri Residential Treatment FacilityLocation:
Springfield, MOSalary:
$45,000-$68,000 annually (Depending on certification/registration and experience) Job Summary The Expressive Therapist will work with children and adolescents in residential care, using the power of art or music to support their emotional and psychological growth.

This role involves creating and implementing personalized treatment plans, conducting therapy sessions, and collaborating with a dedicated team to support our residents' development.

The therapist will create a safe and supportive environment where residents can freely express themselves, encouraging self-exploration and emotional release through creative expression.
QualificationsEducation:
Graduated from an accredited college or university in Art Therapy.
Licensure/Certification:
You must hold certification in one of the following licenses:
Art Therapist:
Registered (ATR) or Board Certified (ATR-BC)
Music Therapist:
Board Certified (MT-BC)
Dance/Drama Therapist:
Registered Dance/Movement Therapy (R-DMT) or Registered Drama Therapist (RDT)
