Maplewood Treatment Solutions is a outpatient substance abuse treatment facility located in Merchantville, NJ. We are committed to providing high-quality, person-centered care to individuals seeking recovery from addiction. Our team works collaboratively to create a safe, supportive, and structured environment where clients can heal, grow, and build a foundation for lasting recovery.
Position Summary:
The Primary Therapist is a key member of the clinical team responsible for providing comprehensive therapeutic services to clients in residential treatment. This role includes conducting clinical assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, providing individual and group therapy, coordinating family involvement, and supporting discharge and aftercare planning. The Primary Therapist is also responsible for accurate and timely documentation, crisis management, and supporting the overall therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments at admission to determine client needs and formulate initial diagnoses. Develop, implement, and update individualized master treatment plans in collaboration with the client and multidisciplinary team. Provide individual therapy sessions on a regular basis in accordance with client needs and program requirements. Facilitate family therapy sessions , supporting healthy communication, boundary setting, and family involvement in the recovery process. Lead or co-facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups , including topics related to relapse prevention, emotional regulation, trauma, and recovery skills. Manage and document discharge planning and aftercare coordination , including referrals to outpatient treatment, sober living, support groups, and other community resources. Complete all required clinical documentation accurately and within agency timeframes, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support to clients as needed in collaboration with clinical and support staff. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings , case consultations, and supervision as required. Maintain compliance with all regulatory, ethical, and licensing standards.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related clinical field required. Active New Jersey licensure (LCSW, LSW, LPC, LAC) required. At least 2 years of experience providing therapy in a substance abuse or mental health treatment setting preferred. Strong understanding of addiction, co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based treatment modalities. Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Must pass background check and drug screening.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with KIPU Health EMR. Certification in trauma-informed therapy, DBT, or other clinical specialties strongly preferred.
