The Certified Athletic Trainer works collaboratively with coaching staff, team physicians, and consulting medical professionals to support student health and safety and performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of:
  • Principles of anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, nutrition, and first aid.
  • Prevention, recognition, and treatment of athletic injuries.
  • Physical fitness, hygiene, and safety procedures related to athletic programs.
  • Safety and protective athletic equipment.
  • Taping, bandaging, therapeutic, and rehabilitative techniques.
  • Disinfection and sanitation procedures.
  • General principles of training, supervision, and work direction.
  • Individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning techniques.
  • First aid and CPR practices.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Record-keeping and report preparation methods.
Ability to:
  • Instruct students in proper exercise, rehabilitation, and injury-prevention techniques.
  • Operate first aid, rehabilitation, and adaptive athletic equipment.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and medical professionals.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
Education and Experience:
  • Any combination equivalent to a bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical education, or a related field, and at least one year of experience in the care, management, and prevention of athletic injuries.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Valid First-Aid/ CPR Certification.
  • Current National Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer (BOC or equivalent).
