Job Summary:
Serves as a physician extender in primary care, primary care sports medicine, and orthopedic clinical settings. Specializes in the delivery of quality health care to patients of all ages and athletes of all skill levels.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Associate's/Technical Degree in athletic training or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Two years' relevant experience:
Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
National Athletic Trainers Association Board certification:
Preferred Department Specific License/Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy:
Required Essential Functions:
Performs appropriate patient intake for medical and musculoskeletal conditions, including thorough history of condition or injury, chief complaint, pain level assessment, completion and review of past medical history, family history, social history and medication reconciliation. Performs appropriate physical examination based on patient history and chief complaint, including palpation of the affected area and unaffected area, range of motion testing, strength testing, manual muscle testing, dynamic muscle testing, myotome testing, dermatome testing, ligamentous stress testing and functional testing. Performs appropriate point of care testing and orders appropriate diagnostic testing or follow-up care, as directed by supervising physicians. Collaborates with supervising physicians to develop a detailed concussion care plan for each patient that includes academic and physical recommendations, based on clinical assessment. Documents all evaluation and testing factors appropriately. Supports physicians and other clinical/ancillary staff in daily patient care. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
