Job Summary The Sports Fundamentals Instructor is responsible for designing, implementing, and supervising safe and effective strength, conditioning, and injury-prevention programs for High School athletes during Beyond the Bell programming. This role focuses on improving athletic performance, promoting physical development, and supporting overall health and wellness while ensuring proper technique and adherence to safety standards, with a focus on Volleyball and Strength & Conditioning training . The Fundamentals Instructor should also have the ability to instruct students with patience, tact and good judgment within established BTB-Legacy LA guidelines. Duties Design and implement age- and sport-appropriate strength and conditioning programs Instruct athletes on proper lifting techniques, movement mechanics, and equipment use Monitor athlete progress and adjust training programs as needed Emphasize injury prevention, mobility, flexibility, and recovery strategies Maintain a safe, organized, and motivating training environment Collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, and staff to support athlete development Track attendance, performance metrics, and progress documentation Enforce facility rules, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance Educate athletes on nutrition basics, hydration, and healthy lifestyle habits (as appropriate) Other duties as assigned. Please note that you may be required to support with other programs or duties outside of the Fundamentals Instructor's typical scope of work Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or related field (preferred) National certification such as CSCS, SCCC, NASM, or equivalent (required or preferred) Experience working with athletes in a school, collegiate, or training facility setting Strong knowledge of strength training, conditioning, and injury prevention principles Strong knowledge in fundamentals of volleyball Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills CPR/AED and First Aid certification required Skills & Competencies Ability to motivate and engage diverse groups of athletes Strong attention to safety and proper technique Effective time management and program organization Adaptability to various athletic levels and needs Professional demeanor and collaborative mindset Work Environment Indoor and outdoor athletic facilities Physical activity including lifting, demonstrating exercises, and standing for extended periods Flexible schedule Monday through Friday
