June 12, 2026 Summary The Clinical Athletic Trainer assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of Peachtree Orthopedics physicians. The Clinical Athletic Trainer provides clinical and administrative support across multiple locations to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a safe, high-quality patient experience while utilizing athletic training expertise in the orthopedic clinical setting. Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of Peachtree Orthopedics physicians. The Clinical Athletic Trainer provides clinical support in an orthopedic setting by performing patient assessments, supporting diagnostic and treatment workflows, coordinating care, and promoting a safe, high-quality patient experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Escort patients to exam areas and prepare rooms for clinical visits and procedures. Conduct direct patient evaluations, obtain history, and support ordering of diagnostic studies (including X-rays) as directed by the physician. Collect specimens (e.g., urine, blood) for testing and perform routine laboratory tests when applicable; prepare specimens/forms for lab processing. Perform comprehensive patient assessments under physician supervision and support development of treatment plans to ensure continuity of care. Maintain accurate and complete documentation in the EMR (Athena), including Meaningful Use criteria as applicable. Support and coordinate in-office procedures (injections, aspirations, wound care, suture removal, dressing changes) and assist with cast/splint/DME application and removal. Coordinate DME ordering, fitting, dispensing, and education. Submit Physical Therapy orders/referrals for approval and review home exercise plans as directed. Coordinate consultations with other physicians and obtain prior authorizations for visco-supplementation, lab tests, and advanced imaging as needed. Manage clinical phone calls and portal communication; document actions/advice provided and prepare prescriptions for signature/e-prescribing per physician approval. Schedule pre- and post-operative appointments; schedule OR cases and maintain surgery schedules; communicate schedule changes and assist with rescheduling when needed. Obtain diagnostic results and imaging; import outside discs into JOINTS when needed; scan/route reports to close out orders in accordance with process. Maintain supplies within modules; monitor biohazard waste; ensure compliance with OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards. Provide coverage for other clinical personnel as needed and perform other duties as assigned. Wipe tables, change pillowcases, and straighten rooms as needed Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned. Provide coverage for athletic events, games, and tournaments when needed and available; support urgent ortho coverage as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited college/university required. Minimum of one year of experience in orthopedics/sports injuries required; clinic experience preferred. Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers required. State of Georgia Athletic Training Licensure required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (excel, word, PowerPoint, outlook) and EMR systems (Athena) preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations BOC Certification for Athletic Trainers — required. State of Georgia Athletic Training Licensure — required. BLS (American Heart Association) — required. Ongoing continuing education and/or license renewal as required by certifying/licensing bodies. Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The role requires frequent standing and walking, regular use of hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands/arms, and communicating with patients and staff. The employee may occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and assist patients with mobility as needed.
