2398 - Head Athletic Trainer Head Athletic Trainer Intercollegiate Athletics Search 2398 - Posted June 17, 2026 Emporia State University Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a Head Athletic Trainer. This position will lead, develop, and manage Associate Athletic Trainer, Assistant Athletic Trainers, Graduate level athletic training students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide athletic training services for Emporia State University's intercollegiate athletic programs, including coverage of home and away practices and games. Give guidance to graduate level athletic training students in our CAATE accredited athletic training program. Conduct rehabilitation activities for injured student-athletes. Administer daily evaluations, preventative exercises, emergency care, treatments, and rehabilitaive sessions. Keep accurate records of athletes' injuries, treatment, and medication. Ensure program records, medical histories, and insurance information is collected, maintained, and organized. Serve as a liaison to team physicians, medical consultants, specialists, medical service provider and student-athletes, and parents. Maintains medical records for all student-athletes to include physical exams, insurance and family information, medical histories, records of injury evaluation, records of daily treatment and records of each insurance claim filed. Manage the flow of information and answer questions. Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for Athletic Department emergency action plans (EAP). Arrange and maintain good communication with the insurance providers and manages all paperwork required for claims. Maintains relationships with physicians, other athletic trainers, and student-athletes to deliver comprehensive athletic training techniques and treatments, ensuring safety and high quality performance. Manage daily operations of the athletic training rooms. Oversee inventory management and tracking of all sports medicine equipment and supplies. Report necessary repairs as needed to ensure the athletic training facility is fully operational. Perform all other duties assigned by Associate Athletic Director, Internal Relations and Athletic Director. Organize and maintain all medical records in accordance with rules and regulations of the University, HIPAA, FERPA, NCAA and MIAA conference. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, Athletic Training or a related field Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (BOC) Must have or be eligible for a Kansas Athletic Training License
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in related filed 5 years of related professional experience
COMPENSATION
Salary $62,000 - $80,000 Annually based on education and experience
