Athletic Trainer Position Title Assistant Athletic Trainer Reports To Principal / Athletic Director / Director of Sports Medicine Employment Type Full-Time Position Summary Catholic High School is seeking a qualified and mission-driven Athletic Trainer to support the health, safety, and development of student-athletes within its athletic program. Rooted in the mission and values of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, this position provides athletic training services focused on injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and education for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer will work directly under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine while collaborating closely with the Athletic Director, coaches, administrators, parents, and medical professionals to ensure the highest standard of care for all student- athletes. In addition to athletic training responsibilities, this position includes teaching one section of Anatomy within the school's academic program. Key Responsibilities Prevention & Athlete Care Assist in the implementation of injury prevention programs, including flexibility, recovery, and conditioning initiatives. Provide immediate care, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries during practices and competitions. Assist with rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes in consultation with physicians and healthcare providers. Monitor student-athlete recovery and communicate progress with the Director of Sports Medicine and coaching staffs. Athletic Training Operations Assist in the daily operation and organization of the athletic training room. Maintain accurate treatment records, injury reports, and medical documentation through the school's Healthy Roster platform. Assist with inventory management and the maintenance of athletic training equipment and supplies. Support game-day and practice coverage for assigned athletic programs. Collaboration & Communication Work collaboratively with coaches to help maintain safe practice and competition environments. Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding athlete care and recovery progress. Coordinate with physicians, orthopedic specialists, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers regarding referrals and treatment plans. Serve as a resource for student-athlete education related to wellness, injury prevention, hydration, nutrition, and recovery. Academic Responsibilities Teach one section of Anatomy in accordance with Catholic High School academic standards and expectations. Maintain classroom management, grading, lesson planning, and communication responsibilities associated with faculty members at Catholic High School. Support the holistic development of students both academically and athletically. Compliance & Administration Assist in maintaining compliance with school policies, state regulations, and LHSAA requirements related to athletic participation and medical eligibility. Maintain current certifications and complete required professional development. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine, Athletic Director, or Principal. Qualifications Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field preferred. Board of Certification (BOC) certification in good standing. Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in Louisiana. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Teaching certification or eligibility to teach Anatomy preferred. Experience working with high school, collegiate, or competitive athletes preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Compensation Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will align with Catholic High School compensation policies.
