Yes Position Summary:
Aquinas College, a member of the NAIA and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), is seeking an athletic trainer. This position will provide onsite care and management of student athletes' injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.Key Responsibilities:
Assesses the risk of injury, performs ergonomic evaluations and coaching, advises on self-care techniques and promotes overall wellness. Using electronic systems, documents all patient encounters. Coordinates and implements injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each patient. Minimizes risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies. Provides accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student-athletes with restrictions and limitations. Communications with physicians and coach staff regarding the injury status of student-athletes. Carries out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. Performs administrative duties as assigned by supervisor. Performs other job duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Must have a Master's Degree, be BOC certified, and possess state athletic training licensure. Must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems. Must demonstrate effective assessment and evaluation skills. Must be able to work cooperatively with other healthcare professionals. Must be able to think critically and make independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines. Must be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation. Must be able to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision. Must be able to position patients for examination. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table. Must be able to lift and carry objects on a frequent basis. Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
