Back Athletic Trainer

_PARAGRAPH JOB_DESCRIPTION.SHARE.HTML Midland, Michigan Athletic Training 8-5pm Regular Full-Time Any Shift Orthopaedics- Alma 46296 Job Description Summary The athletic trainer provides patient care in accordance with their Michigan medical license.
- Greets patients and/or family, performs routine pre-examination procedures including vital signs, assessing and recording objective and subjective data concerning presenting condition.
- Assists provider with examinations and procedures. (15%)
- Triages all calls, schedules daily urgent/emergent add-ons, receives and relays test results. Supports, directs and refers patients for consults and/or testing and insurance pre-certification and documentation. (10%)
- Prepares and cleans the patient area, sets up equipment, cleans and facilitates room set up after a procedure. Disposes of contaminated supplies and sterilizes medical instruments. (10%)
- Completes daily documentation necessary for billing procedures per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Records and tracks daily activities at designated school. (10%)
- Provides patients with education material including HEP and assists with bracing/splinting/casting of orthopedic conditions.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Documents the patient/family/caregiver response to treatment and changes in patient condition per affiliate documentation policies and/or standards and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care including coordination with interdisciplinary team members. Promotes education and development among staff, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods. Promotes process improvement. Assists with program development. Provides feedback in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Promotes physical therapy within MyMichigan Health and service area, participating in and providing community education. Demonstrates commitment to MyMichigan Health and specific affiliate mission as evidenced by customer service, quality of service, and teamwork. Under guidance of physical therapist, certified athletic trainer will facilitate communication between physical therapist and physician regarding changes in treatment regime. Maintains confidentiality of patient and affiliate information in accordance with MyMichigan Health and affiliate policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. - MI Lic Athletic Trainer Required Equivalent Experience
- BLS•Basic Life Support Required Equivalent Experience•Within 1 month of hire or transfer

Graduated from an athletic training curriculum approved by the National Athletic Trainer's Association. Must obtain a fracture and casting certificate within 6 months of hire or transfer to the position. Other InformationEXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Successful completion of MyMichigan Health and affiliate specific orientation. Successful completion of new hire competency. Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies/procedures as evidenced by observation, documentation, and peer feedback for the patients of all age groups. Interpersonal skills needed for effective verbal and written communication in the English language to interact with people individually and in a group at all levels and to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Ability to work independently, demonstrating problem solving and organizational skills, time management skills and initiative. Ability to work where employee may be exposed to communicable diseases. Ability to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to appropriate professional and nonprofessional individuals. Prefer one to three years of experience working in a sports medicine clinic or university setting.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.Physical Demand Level:
Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
