Assistant Athletic Trainer Hobart William Smith Colleges Location:

Apr 08, 2026 Description The Assistant Athletic Trainer is a vital practitioner in sports health care for Hobart and William Smith Colleges' intercollegiate student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will execute the philosophy and objectives of sports medicine at Hobart and William Smith, which sponsors 31 intercollegiate, multi-divisional sports (NCAA Division I & III) with approximately 800 student athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report to the Asst AD for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer and will have responsibilities in these areas: medical care, injury prevention and rehabilitation of athletes; communication with athletic trainers, athletes, physicians, coaches, and parents regarding medical care; student worker management; supply management; electronic medical record keeping; ongoing professional development; emergency action plans; and other duties as assigned. There is an opportunity for this position to work with football as one of its primary sport assignments, depending on qualifications and department needs. Care, Prevention and Rehabilitation- Provide pre-practice and competition sports medical care for athletes of assigned teams. Evaluate injuries. Provide proper pre

- practice/competition treatment and rehabilitation.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with staff members, parents and physicians.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate student workers. Supply Management
- Assist with maintaining inventory of supplies. Assist with oversight of all aspects of all athletic training clinics (e.g. equipment and supplies, maintenance, room procedures/protocol). Electronic Medical Record Keeping
- Review completed HWS Sports Medicine intake paperwork. Maintain confidential, accurate, and current injury and treatment electronic records. Complete all required NCAA sports medicine related forms. Professional Development
- Maintain certified athletic trainer status through the National Athletic Trainers Association and Board of Certification.
- Maintain a working knowledge of state and institutional safety plans. Practice venue-specific emergency response plans once annually. Assist with implementation of athletic facility emergency action plans as necessary. Other Department Responsibilities
- Work in compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Liberty League and other relevant governing bodies as they pertain to sports medicine.
Other Information:
This is a full-time, 10-month, benefits-eligible position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Evening and weekend work are required.Salary:

Qualifications Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and current New York State Athletic Trainer License or eligibility for the New York State license is required. Current CPR/AED certification (renewal can be done at HWS). Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with college student-athletes, coaches and administrators within highly competitive NCAA multi-divisional intercollegiate athletics department. Previous experience (1-3 years) in intercollegiate athletics is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills with all constituents. A desire to work within the framework of all HWS departmental policies and requirements is a must. A valid U.S. drivers' license is required.
