Immediately Job Description Position Summary The Athletic Trainer (AT) supports student-athlete health and safety by providing injury prevention, evaluation, immediate care, treatment/rehabilitation, and return-to-play guidance for school-sponsored athletics. The Athletic Trainer collaborates closely with coaches, the Athletic Director, school administrators, families, and licensed medical providers to ensure safe participation in athletic activities. Reports To Athletic Director (and/or designee) Primary Responsibilities Athletic health care & emergency response Provide on-site athletic training services for practices and competitions as assigned. Evaluate athletic injuries and determine appropriate first aid, triage, and follow-up care. Implement and oversee emergency action plans (EAPs) for athletic venues. Provide immediate care for acute injuries/illnesses, including suspected concussions and heat illness. Coordinate care and referral when physician/urgent/emergency evaluation is needed. Injury prevention & risk management Develop and implement injury prevention strategies (conditioning guidance, taping/bracing, warm-up protocols). Monitor environmental conditions (heat/humidity) and recommend activity modifications as needed. Assist with equipment fitting/safety checks and communicate concerns to appropriate staff. Support bloodborne pathogen and universal precautions practices during athletic events. Treatment, rehabilitation & return to participation Design and administer treatment/rehabilitation plans within scope of practice. Track progress and communicate restrictions/participation status to coaches and families as appropriate. Support safe "return to learn" and "return to play" practices for concussions in coordination with school and medical personnel. Ensure athletes do not return to participation without appropriate written clearance when required by law/policy (concussion/head injury). Documentation & compliance Maintain accurate injury reports, treatment logs, clearance documentation, and related records. Assist the Athletic Director with required documentation related to concussions/head injuries and other reportable incidents. Support required annual training expectations for coaches (ex: concussion education) and help distribute informational materials to athletes/parents as needed. Communication & collaboration Communicate professionally with students, families, coaches, administrators, and medical providers. Attend meetings as needed (athletics, student support, safety planning) and provide guidance on student-athlete health concerns. Promote a positive, inclusive environment that supports student well-being and participation. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree (required) in Athletic Training or related field (per certification requirements). Current BOC certification (ATC). Current Oklahoma athletic trainer license (LAT) (or ability to obtain by start date). Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (professional rescuer level preferred). Knowledge of concussion evaluation/management and emergency care best practices. Ability to work evenings/weekends and maintain a schedule aligned to athletics seasons. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field. School-based or secondary athletics experience. Experience developing/implementing emergency action plans and heat illness protocols. Strong documentation skills and experience using electronic medical record/injury tracking systems. Physical / Work Requirements Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift/carry athletic training supplies/equipment (commonly up to 25-50 lbs). Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and provide hands-on care. Physical/Mental Requirements:

Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer. Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties. Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone. Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 50 pounds. Sitting for prolonged periods of time. May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

Work Environment:

Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
