Certified Athletic Trainer Comprehensive Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Salt Lake City, UT Job Details Full-time $28 - $35 an hour 8 days ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Certified Athletic Trainer BLS Certification Manual therapy Diagnostic evaluation Sports medicine Medical scheduling Bachelor's degree Orthopedics Full Job Description Job Summary Currently we are looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer that works directly with one of our orthopedic sports medicine surgeon to streamline patient care as well as oversight at our Solitude clinic. This role involves performing comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluations, assisting with clinical procedures, and managing the "return-to-play" or "return-to-work" process for patients. Key Responsibilities1.
Clinical Evaluation & Patient Intake Specialized Exams:
Conduct initial musculoskeletal physical exams and present findings to the physician.
Medical History:
Obtain comprehensive patient histories, including detailed mechanisms of injury and previous athletic/surgical history.
Imaging Coordination:
Order X-rays based on standing protocols and review initial imaging with the physician to assist in diagnosis. 2.
Treatment & Procedures DME Fitting:
Measure, fit, and instruct patients on Durable Medical Equipment (DME) , including functional knee braces, walking boots, and crutches.
Splinting:
Apply and remove custom splints.
Surgical Assisting:
Handle post-operative wound care (suture/staple removal).
Injections:
Prepare syringes for joint aspirations or injections. 3.
Rehabilitation & Education Home Exercise Programs :
Design and demonstrate therapeutic exercise programs for patients to perform between clinic visits.
Gait Training:
Instruct patients on proper mechanics for assistive devices and post-op weight-bearing restrictions. 4.
Administrative & Coordination Surgical Scheduling:
Coordinate surgical dates, pre-operative clearances, and insurance prior authorizations.
Liaison Work:
Act as the primary point of contact between the orthopedic clinic and local high school/college athletic trainers or coaches.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed electronic medical records (EMR) and complete FMLA or disability paperwork.
Required Qualifications Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in
Athletic Training Certification:
Current BOC (Board of Certification) for the Athletic Trainer.
Licensure:
State licensure or regulation as an Athletic Trainer (AT/L).
Skills:
Proficiency in orthopedic special tests, manual therapy, and knowledge of sports-specific biomechanics.
Pay:
$28.00 - $35.00 per hour
