General Description:
Assumes the responsibility and obligation of establishing and maintaining an athletic training program, in all sports. Coordinatesand organizes the daily Athletic Trainer functions with the Athletic Director and coaches Completes all reporting requirements for the division Reviews student physicals and releases to ensure authenticity. Must be skilled in communicating to parents and staff. I Is expected to meet the school's professional, clinical, technical, communication and documentation requirements and standards and to make decisions based on established National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) guidelines
Responsibilities:
Coordinates and organizes the daily Athletic Trainer functions with the Athletic Director and coaches at each high school Completes all reporting required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations Reviews student physicals and releases to ensure authenticity Responsible for prevention, emergency care, first aid, evaluation, and rehabilitation of injuries to athletes under his/her care using appropriate and established programs Serves as liaison between the team physician, the athlete, the athlete's parents, and coaching staff Assesses readiness to play and provides clearances when necessary Serves as consultant to coaching staff on conditioning, nutrition, and protective equipment Maintains records including injury reports, home care instructions, referrals, treatment records, rehabilitation progress notes, and insurance information; and communicates this information to others as need Provides education and supervision for athletes and students Sets up fields for games and practices Monitors weather conditions and directs protocols Provides medical coverage for practices and sporting events as scheduled with the Athletic Director Coordinates EMS/Physician coverage when needed Maintains emergency response equipment and performs inspections as needed Performs related duties as assigned by the building administrator(s) in accordance with the school/division policies and practices
Required Qualifications:
$125,367 Must hold licensure through the Virginia Board of Medicine to engage in the practice of athletic training Must hold certification through the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Must hold a valid Virginia driver's license 26-27
Propesed Salary:
$60,942 - $117,165
Educational Supplements:
Master's:
+7% of base salary BA + 15: $750
Teacher National Board Certification:
$2,000
Doctorate:
$2000 Salary steps are commensurate with full-time experience in the field.
Additional Information:
This is an 11-month/220 day position annually
