Valley Audiology in Concord and Walnut Creek, CA is excited to welcome a motivated and enthusiastic Audiology Extern to our team! Under the supervision of our expert audiologists, you will be exposed to a wide range of hearing aid manufacturers and audiological services including adult diagnostics, hearing aid fittings, BAHAs, and cochlear implants (member of the Cochlear Provider Network). Yes Does the externship site provide orientation to quality assessment, quality assurance and quality improvement? Yes Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Comprehensive audiologic evaluation, some hearing aid troubleshooting, real ear measurement (set up) Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: Full hearing aid fittings, cochlear implant evaluations, basic cochlear implant and BAHA trouble shooting. Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern: Regularly Hearing Screenings Never Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler Never Pediatric evaluations: school-age Everyday Adult hearing evaluations Everyday Tympanometry Regularly Acoustic Reflexes Never Auditory processing evaluations Regularly Hearing Screenings Rarely Evoked potential assessments Never Intra-operative monitoring cases Everyday Otoacoustic emissions Rarely Industrial/hearing conservation Never Vestibular assessments Never Vestibular rehabilitation Everyday Hearing aids dispensed Everyday Hearing aid selection/fitting Everyday Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized) Regularly Cochlear implant evaluations Regularly Cochlear implant rehabilitation Rarely Tinnitus assessments Never Tinnitus rehabilitation Regularly Cerumen management Research opportunities?
