Job Description

Diablo Hearing Services is excited to offer a full-time audiology externship for Au.

D. students entering their final year! Located in the heart of San Ramon, California, our private practice provides a rich and rewarding environment for students to grow professionally and personally. We are known for our collaborative, positive culture where learning is encouraged and supported every step of the way. Externs will gain hands-on experience in a wide range of clinical services, including comprehensive audiologic evaluations, hearing aid selection and fitting, real-ear measurements, tinnitus management, and auditory processing evaluations with patients of all ages. Our team is composed of seasoned providers, each with over 30 years of experience in both medical clinics and private practice settings (no CCC-A supervisor). This depth of expertise ensures that externs receive exceptional mentorship and guidance throughout their time with us. Students will also gain insight into practice management, including scheduling, billing, and practice operations, and will have opportunities to participate in community outreach and hearing health education. We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate students who are eager to learn and contribute to a collaborative team. No Does the externship site provide orientation to relevant clinical policies and procedures? Yes Does the externship site provide instructions about patient's rights and providing patient education? Yes Does the externship site provide orientation to quality assessment, quality assurance and quality improvement? Yes Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Perform comprehensive hearing evaluation with explanation of results, OAE testing w/understanding of results. Basic clean and check of hearing devices. Some experience with H.A. consultations including demo devices and making recommendations. Testing Pediatric patients ages 4+ yrs. old. Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: Develop confidence in their testing skills and interpreting results accurately, Conducting H.A. consultations, sales, fitting and all follow-up visits including Best Practices. Develop confident skill in H.A. troubleshooting and creative solutions. Ability to work with all patient types we see and ability to work well with all other providers and admin staff in the practice.
