Position Summary/Description:
The Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery ( HNS ), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking an Open Rank Clinical Audiologist Faculty Position with an emphasis in pediatric cochlear implants. This position would be located at the UNC Children's Cochlear Implant Center in the Department of Otolaryngology/ HNS . The Children's Cochlear Implant Center at UNC is a division of the Department of Otolaryngology/ HNS and includes the pediatric cochlear implant team, the CCCDP financial assistance program, pediatric cochlear implant research, listening and spoken language diagnostics and therapy, as well as training and mentoring students. . This program is one of the largest pediatric cochlear implant programs in the country, performing approximately 135 implants each year and following over 900 active cochlear implant patients. It is internationally known and respected. We work closely with our physician teammates and UNCH audiology partners. We are a multidisciplinary, high-performing team serving a diverse patient population with a variety of additional needs and complex anatomy. The primary purpose of this role is to provide quality clinical care to children from birth to twenty-one who are deaf or hard of hearing with a focus on cochlear implants. Applicants should have experience in the areas of cochlear implant and hearing aid programming and a desire to contribute to clinical research.Primary job duties include:
pediatric cochlear implant audiological evaluations, continued follow up of children with cochlear implants, supervision of university audiology students during practicum and fellowships, and care of unique patient populations including bimodal listeners, children using electro-acoustic stimulation, and children with single sided deafness. The position also requires patient and professional outreach.
