Job Description

NYU Langone Health Audiology Associates is seeking an additional skilled and compassionate Doctor of Audiology (Au.

D.) student to complete a full-time audiology externship for the 2027-2028 year. NYU Langone Hospitals is on the U.S. News and World Reports Best Hospitals Honor Roll. It is nationally ranked in 13 adult and 4 pediatric specialties and rated high performing in 1 adult specialty and 20 procedures and conditions including a #20 rank for the ENT specialty. In addition to being at an excellent hospital and teaching institution, the extern will have the opportunity to be part of a team committed to delivering high-quality care and utilizing advanced technology to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. Audiology doctoral residents can expect a wide range of clinical experiences during their externship including: Developmentally appropriate comprehensive behavioral audiological evaluations, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance testing and otoacoustic emissions for pediatric, adult and geriatric populations Electrophysiological testing Hearing device evaluation, programming, fitting, repair and follow-up for patients with hearing aids, FM systems, bone conduction devices and/or CROS systems Cochlear implant and auditory brainstem implant candidacy evaluations, programming and follow-up maintenance and evaluations (one day per week rotation to the NYU Cochlear Implant Center) Vestibular assessments Counseling and education to patients and their families on hearing loss, communication strategies and the use of hearing devices Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care Candidates must have successfully completed all required coursework and clinical placements up to the application deadline and the applicant selected must maintain successful completion of coursework and clinical placements through the start of the externship.

No The NYU Hearing and Balance Center conducts evaluations for many research studies. Extern will have the opportunity to provide testing and complete research audiograms, although they will not be involved with the compilation of data and publishing of results. If interested, we can provide observation with the research audiology team at NYU Langone Health. Consortium or collaborative arrangements with other sites? No How frequently will the externship site communicate with the university during the externship? As Needed Communication or other support do expected or required from the university during the externship: A positive working relationship between the university program and NYU Hearing and Balance Center relies on acceptance of each party's philosophies, procedures, and expectations. The university or academic institution's clinical education philosophy must be compatible with that of our center. We have strong collaborative relationships among staff and other clinical departments and expect a similar, collaborative approach between fellows, supervisors, and university clinical coordinators. For this reason, we welcome university staff to attend introductory meetings with the NYU Hearing and Balance Center staff. After an introductory meeting, a tour of the facilities and a brief observation session can be arranged.

Candidates will be contacted to arrange in-person (preferred) interviews. Upon selection of audiology fellow for the academic year, department administration will contact school NYU Langone Health Human Resources will provide formal offer letter and instructions for onboarding. All offers are contingent on a signed agreement between NYU and the extern's graduate program and on approval from NYU Human Resources. The onboarding process will be completed within 2 months of official start date.
