Job Description

4 th Year Audiology Externship We offer 3 full-time paid clinical externships that start in mid-May. One position is a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) fellowship. The LEND trainee position focuses on leadership and development in addition to clinical experience. All candidates will be considered for the LEND position unless they have already completed the LEND traineeship. Externs are hired for an ~11 month competency-based experience. Externs will complete a rotation at the main campus and a neighborhood location. Students will have a primary preceptor at each location and participate in several specialty areas of pediatric audiology including: Inpatient Hearing aids Cochlear implants Vestibular assessment Bone conduction devices Electrophysiologic assessment Auditory processing evaluations Students interested in a 4th year placement should submit the following documentation in the order listed below (as one PDF document): Cover Letter/Letter of Intent Including a paragraph about why you are interested in LEND If you already completed the LEND traineeship, please write that in your letter Resume Three Recommendation Forms are required and can be completed via CCHMC Recommendation Form . Students - please send this link directly to your recommender. LEND Training Program The Cincinnati LEND Program is part of a national network of 52 LEND programs across the country. The overall mission of LEND is to improve the health of infants, children, and adolescents with, or at risk for, neurodevelopmental and related disabilities including autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). In addition to obtaining proficiency in the competencies listed above, the LEND trainee will have a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, serve on an interdisciplinary team, conduct research and strengthen problem-solving skills essential for pediatric audiology. Participation in this program enhances professional growth and marketability post-graduation. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, students will be participating in activities related to the LEND curriculum, including leadership, interdisciplinary and family observations, and group research projects.
