D.) extern to join our comprehensive audiology team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a student interested in developing advanced clinical skills in cochlear implants, osseointegrated hearing devices, hearing aids, and diagnostic audiology while working alongside experienced audiologists in an academic clinical setting. Clinical Experience The extern will gain hands-on experience with a diverse patient population, including both pediatric and adult patients.
Clinical opportunities include:
Cochlear implant candidacy evaluations, programming (mapping), and follow-up care Experience with all three FDA-approved cochlear implant manufacturers : Cochlear Americas Advanced Bionics MED-EL Evaluation, fitting, and programming of osseointegrated hearing devices (bone conduction hearing systems) Pediatric and adult hearing aid evaluations, fittings, real-ear verification, and follow-up care Comprehensive diagnostic audiologic evaluations across the lifespan Counseling patients and families on hearing technology and communication strategies Collaboration with otologists, otolaryngologists, and speech-language pathologists. You will be a part of our Cochlear Implant Team. In addition to the three audiologists, it consists of: Two Certified Auditory-Verbal Therapists (AVTs and a dedicated cochlear implant researcher actively involved in clinical research and innovation. Supervision The extern will be mentored by three ASHA-certified audiologists (CCC-A) with expertise in cochlear implants, osseointegrated hearing devices, hearing aids, and diagnostic audiology. Our experienced supervisors are committed to providing individualized mentorship, evidence-based clinical training, and progressive independence throughout the externship.
