JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE
Board Certified Behavior Analyst
REPORTS TO
Director of Instructional Support Services
JOB GOAL
To assist school personnel in implementing an effective program to address behaviors of students
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completed certification in Applied Behavior Analysis Valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate with endorsement in special education, preferred Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with students with autism, communication disorders, developmental delays, and/or behavioral concerns Experience in writing and implementing effective behavior plans Trained in prevention and management of aggressive behavior Experience working effectively with a team Knowledge of effective strategies for academic, communication, and behavior intervention Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457 Such Alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law and the Board may require
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities 2. Participates as a team member in the identification of and assessment of students' social, behavioral, emotional, and academic problems 3. Works in collaboration with the Director of Instructional Support, district autism specialist, Consulting Clinical Psychologist, and other district administrators in identifying and prioritizing district behavioral needs, interventions, etc. 4. Works in coordination with teachers, administrators, consultants, and other appropriate professionals in conducting a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and in developing a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) 5. Provides staff training and support in behavior management strategies 6. Assists in the design, implementation, and follow-up of behavioral management programs for students to remediate behavioral and social problems 7. Models and coaches staff in behavior management strategies 8. Demonstrates and teaches effective communication skills 9. Performs and models de-escalation techniques when an individual is exhibiting escalated and/or aggressive behavior toward himself/herself or toward staff 10. Provides social skills training to students in such areas as anger management, social skills enhancement, conflict resolution, and appropriate peer interactions 11. Analyzes behavioral data and collaboratively writes Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) to address behaviors that need to be increased or decreased 12. Trains teachers in the documenting and analyzing behavioral data 13. Plans and confers with the classroom teacher concerning any behavioral, social, or personal problems affecting students 14. Assists with evaluation of students in the areas of autism, communication, social skills, sensory issues, etc. 15. Consults with school and district personnel, parents, and community agencies 16. Works with community day cares and preschool programs and Hoover City Schools extended day staff to address behavior concerns of students 17. Maintains frequent and substantive communication with staff 18. Complies with local, state, and federal regulations regarding special education records, reports, and services 19. Cooperates with all teacher regulations and responsibilities in the school 20. Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal and local laws 21.
