Full Job Description Work Location:
On-site (School Campus) Assist Enterprises is seeking a dedicated Behavior Specialist to provide direct behavioral support strategies and social-emotional coaching for our students. In this role, you will work collaboratively with classroom teams to facilitate real-time de-escalation, emotional regulation, and safety, ensuring students maintain the coping skills necessary to thrive in their instructional environment.
Key Responsibilities Behavioral Intervention & De-escalation:
Provide immediate support during behavioral incidents, utilizing approved de-escalation techniques, BIP implementation, and restorative processing sessions.
Social-Emotional Coaching:
Teach self-regulation strategies, identify behavioral triggers, lead small-group SEL activities, and foster a trauma-informed classroom culture.
Data Collection & Documentation:
Maintain accurate ABC data, track IEP goals, assist with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and provide objective reports to campus leadership.
Classroom Collaboration:
Partner with Classroom Leads, teachers, and paraprofessionals to optimize the classroom layout, identify environmental triggers, and implement individualized strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience).
Certification:
Crisis Intervention Training (e.g., CPI, QBS, or equivalent) required, or ability to obtain upon hire.
Experience:
Proven experience supporting students with significant emotional or behavioral challenges.
Core Skills:
Calm demeanor under stress, strong interpersonal skills, and keen observational abilities to anticipate behavioral escalations. Physical Requirements & Work Environment High mobility to respond quickly to crises across the campus. Ability to work in dynamic environments that may involve high noise levels and physically aggressive behaviors.
