Driving Full Job Description Job Summary:
Registered Behavior Technician / Behavior Technician — Pivotal Behavior Supports Santa Barbara, CA | In-home and daycare/Head Start settings | Posted June 17, 2026 Pivotal Behavior Supports is a small, founder-led ABA practice in Santa Barbara. You'll work directly with the supervising BCBA, not through layers of regional managers or a call center scheduling system. Caseloads mix home-based sessions with work in daycare and Head Start classrooms, so the work varies day to day instead of repeating the same drills in the same room for months. Pay $25 to $29 per hour, based on RBT certification status and experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) techs are paid at the top of the range given the number of Spanish-speaking families we serve. Schedule We need broad availability across mornings, afternoons, and evenings. If you're trying to piece together a near-full-time schedule, or you want consistent hours rather than a narrow part-time block, this is a better fit than most part-time postings you'll see. What the work actually looks like ( Responsibilities ) Run 1:1 sessions in client homes using ABA strategies including PRT (Pivotal Response Treatment), with real coaching from the BCBA on technique, not just a binder of scripts Support kids in daycare and Head Start classrooms, working alongside teachers and other caregivers rather than isolated 1:1 in a clinic room Collect session data through a data system the practice built in-house, not paper logs or a clunky third-party app Sit in on parent training sessions when relevant, so you see the full arc of a case rather than just your slice of it Document progress notes and session data in line with HIPAA and CenCal requirements What we're looking for RBT certified, or willing to become certified (we'll walk you through it if you're new) Comfortable with inconsistent settings: a home one hour, a classroom the next Spanish fluency is a real asset here, not a box to check No experience with kids with developmental disabilities required, but it helps Why people stay Supervised fieldwork hours toward BCBA certification, supervised directly by the practice owner, who holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology alongside his BCBA and brings doctoral-level clinical training into how cases are approached. You're learning ABA with that clinical grounding built in, not bolted on later Mileage reimbursement, since you're driving between homes and daycare sites Paid training, and we'll cover RBT certification costs if you're not certified yet Direct mentorship and feedback on your technique, not just sign-offs on a form Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Reliable transportation (you'll be driving to multiple locations in a day). Spanish preferred, not required.
